In this piece, I explore how sculptural forms relate to their surroundings as a way to further develop my sculptural practice. By visiting the local harbor during one evening, I noticed a row of crayfish cages illuminated by the industrial light of a nearby boatyard. The scene felt both nostalgic and poetic, and I wanted to recreate that mental image by transforming these culturally charged objects into a spatial sculpture.
I transported around a hundred cages to a gallery in Gothenburg. Working intuitively with stacking, shadows, and LED light, I built and dismantled repeatedly until the form resonated with the architecture of the room. The final installation explored how objects shaped by labour and nature change
meaning when relocated into an art space.
